Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Edna Police Department to improve the quality of life for all members of the community by providing a safe and secure environment and, within the boundaries of the Laws of
the United States, the State of Texas, and the City of Edna, to enforce laws, exercise regulatory authority and preserve the peace while protecting the rights of all by applying the highest
standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability, in partnership with the entire community.
The Edna Police Department is a small but professional police agency dedicated to serving the citizen's of Edna and everyone who comes to the city.
The agency is comprised of nine full time sworn officers. The Chief of Police, who is appointed and directed by the City Manager, directs a Captain in charge of operations, one full-time Investigator,
one Patrol/Investigator, and five Patrol Officers. The agency has five designated Reserve Officer Positions. The Police Chief also directs one Animal Control Officer and one Records Clerk.
The business office of the Police Department is located at 103 N. Allen Street. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Police and accident
reports may be obtained from the Records Clerk during those hours. Dispatch is provided by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
To speak with an Officer after hours a person can go to the Sheriff's Office at 115 W. Main Street and speak with a dispatcher. The business telephone number for the police department is (361)
782-5271. The telephone number is answered by City Staff during regular business hours and routed to the Sheriff's Dispatch after hours. For emergencies dial 911.

Chief Wooldridge
Chief Clinton Wooldridge was born and raised in Seadrift, Texas and attended Calhoun High School in Port Lavaca, Texas. Clinton began his law enforcement career in 1983 as a Reserve Police
Officer for the City of Seadrift after attending a Reserve Peace Officer Course in Calhoun County. Clinton graduated from the Victoria College Police Academy in 1984 and began his first paid law
enforcement position with the City of Edna in that same year. Since beginning his career with the City of Edna, Clinton has served as Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Investigator, Assistant Chief,
and was promoted to Chief of Police in 2002.
Clinton is a member of the Edna Lion's Club and remains involved in the community by serving with a number of civic groups and committees.

Fire Department Mission Statement
The Edna Fire Department is to a leading agency in our community by:

EMS Mission Statement
The mission of the City of Edna EMS is to provide efficient, prompt, and effective medical care to all residents of Edna, our assigned county area, and individuals passing through Jackson County.
- To provide the most advanced care possible, to all people.
- To support accident prevention and use our resources effectively.
- To work collaboratively with all healthcare and emergency services.
- To value our staff, patients, and co-workers.
- To maintain the highest standards of our profession and patient care.
- To assist all EMS and Fire Agencies in responding to an Emergency Situation.
Fire Department/EMS History
The City of Edna EMS was organized in 1976 when the City and County purchased two Ambulances, but cease to exist as Volunteers in 1990. The Edna Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1929
and still continues today. The City of Edna in 1987 hired the first employee for the EMS Service and then in 1990 hired the additional staff to man the EMS and Fire Department. This started the
combined service of Edna EMS and Fire Departments to provide Advanced Life Support Service and Fire Service to the citizens of Edna. The Volunteer Fire Department and EMS Services provide services
for 315 square miles in Jackson County. The Edna Fire and EMS Departments including the volunteers work together to get the job done.
The Edna Fire Department Volunteers are comprised of persons who provide services to the Volunteer Fire Department day or night. Our career Fire and EMS personnel staff the station twenty-four hours
a day to provide the quick response to a medical or fire emergency.
The Fire and EMS departments have total of 3 pumper's, 1 Tanker, 3 Grass Trucks, 1 Brush Truck, 1 Personnel Vehicle, 3 EMS units, 1 Supervisor Vehicle and misc support items. We are also capable to
providing Hazardous Material Response with command trailer and decontamination equipment. There are 21 volunteer firefighters including 1 Volunteer Fire Chief. There are 9 on staff for the career
department which are eight paid Fire and EMS personnel including the EMS Director / Fire Marshal, and one Medical Administrative Secretary.
The City of Edna has recently has recently restored The Edna Volunteer Fire Departments original 1929 Chevrolet Fire Truck that is now used in parades and other functions.
Fire Marshal and EMS Director Loyd Chase (Buster)
Buster as he prefers to be called was born in Ganado, Texas, and has lived in Edna his entire life except for a four-year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. He started with the Volunteer EMS
Department in 1978 as an Emergency Care Attendant, and then completed the Emergency Medical Technician at the Victoria College. Buster was hired by the City of Edna as a full time staff member in
1987. Buster when on to attend Paramedic Classes in Victoria and Fire Academy at College Station, Texas. The next few years focusing on Fire Inspector Classes, Fire Arson Investigator Classes, and then
Victoria Police Academy thus became the title of Fire Marshal.
Buster serves on the Victoria College Board of Instructors, Golden Crescent Trauma Committee, American Heart Association Instructor, Texas Department of State Health Services Instructor, Texas
Commission on Fire Protection Instructor and a member of the Baptist Temple Church in Edna.

The Edna Volunteer Fire Department participates in the Fill the Boot Campaign for M.D.A. Fundraisers for the department are usually a yearly raffle, Bar-B-Que, Golf tournament for funds used for
equipment. They have a yearly banquet in February of each year to recognize the personnel in the department and retired fire firefighters.
Edna Volunteer Fire Chief Wendell Hamilton
Wendell was born in Victoria, Texas and had lived in Edna since 1982. Wendell was the Assistant Fire Chief for the Vanderbilt Volunteer Fire Department until he moved to Edna in which he joined the
Edna Volunteer Fire Dept in 1993. Wendell was then promoted to Assistant Fire Chief since 1994 and Fire Chief in 2000. Wendell is employed full time at Formosa in Point Comfort Texas. Wendell has
attended numerous Industrial and Structure Fire Fighting Classes and is well trained in Hazardous Chemicals emergencies. Wendell is also an Emergency Medical Technician and responds to medical
emergencies as well as fire scenes.
