Public Works

Mission

The mission of the Public Works Department is to provide and manage the city's streets, utility infrastructure, parks, and open space through high quality operations, maintenance, and construction in order to optimize mobility, public and environmental health, and safety. Within the limitations of the annual budget, the city's streets, water and sewer service, parks, and codes are maintained and serviced in a manner that keeps the city an economically strong and a highly desirable community in which to live, work, and play.

Responsibilities

Public Works consists of the Street Department, the Water and Wastewater Department, Parks Section, and Code Enforcement.

The Street Department installs and maintains city streets and rights of way. The Water and Wastewater Department installs and maintains the water system, the wastewater system, sewer lift stations, and the storm water drainage system. The Parks Section monitors and maintains the city's three parks and the city's swimming pool. The Code Enforcement monitors and enforces the city's adopted building codes and the provisions of city ordinances dealing with health and welfare.
