City Council members will be voting Thursday night to award the bid for the project to upgrade Miracle, Division, and Brackenridge Streets.
The City of Edna City Council meets at 6 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 126 W. Main St., in downtown Edna.
The overall 2024 CO (certificate of obligation) project addresses the condition of the streets and the curbs, gutters, sewer mains and storm sewers, with the project divided into two phases. TMS Utility LLC was awarded the bid for the sewer portion during the July 3 City Council meeting.
Because the project is a CO project, it is not a government-paid project or dependent on grant stipulations.
Other items on the City Council agenda include:
* a resolution (#2025-08) authorizing the closure of Main Street from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 during the Market Day on Main Street event and the annual Christmas Parade;
* a resolution (#2025-09) authorizing the Edna Police Department to submit an application for bullet-resistant components for law enforcement vehicles;
* an agreement with Darla Heath to perform administrative service for grants awarded to the Edna Police Department as long as the administration fee is paid through those grants;
* an interlocal agreement with Jackson County;
* granting a deed to Jackson County ESD #3 for additional land behind the fire station;
* a public hearing over an application for platting a 12.278-acre property located at 919 Vanderbilt Rd.;
* voting on the platting application from the public hearing;
* possibly leasing a replacement pickup for the Street Supervisor;
* consider recommendations to the draft of the City of Edna Comprehensive Planning and Zoning Ordinance;
* consider budget amendments;
