With the hustle and bustle of holiday gatherings, shopping, and baking, it’s easy to let things slip.

Don’t let your utility bill get lost among the wrapping paper and the Christmas cards and cost you extra.

The digital water meters and online payment system will email customers reminders prior to the monthly due date of the 15th to help everyone stay on track without having to tie a string around a finger like Uncle Billy in It’s a Wonderful Life.

Customers are still able to stop by City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to pay in person as always, to drop a payment in the drop box to be credited the next business day, or mail it in.

They can also log in and pay their bill online through a link on the city website, from a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Online payments are time- and date-stamped at the time payment is made.

Paying online could be especially helpful for those who work during business hours and those who are busy with holiday preparations and traveling.

Payments received after midnight on the 15th of each month will be assessed a late fee on the following month’s bill, regardless of whether the 15th is on a weekend or holiday. Those accounts not paid by the 25th of each month will be subject to a $50 fee for non-payment.

Don’t spend all that you saved on Black Friday sales by forgetting to pay your utility bill by the 15th!
