City of Edna officials are closely monitoring the weather ahead of the expected severe cold and potential ice storm this weekend.
The Street Department will be sanding bridges and major intersections Saturday afternoon ahead of the potential ice storm.
City workers also have completed weatherizing and checked generators in advance of the storm and cold.
Residents who have water line breaks should call 361-782-3541 to report the problem.
City offices are planning to be open on Monday, although possibly later than usual, depending on conditions, City Manager Gary Broz said Friday.
Warming centers will be available at The Ranch Cowboy Church – South Texas at 514 Dugger St. and at The Open Table Church of South Texas at 924 FM 822. The warming center at The Open Table Church is scheduled to open at 8 a.m. Saturday, according to the church’s Facebook page, and will remain open as long as necessary.
