The Edna City Council took the next steps Thursday night toward getting started on a General Land Office grant for mitigating drainage issues in District 2.

During its regular meeting, the City Council voted to adopt a resolution, No. 2026-03, to designate who can officially sign contractual and financial documents pertaining to the GLO Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation Method of Distribution (CDBG-MIT MOD) Program, contract number 24-065-196-F478.

The council also adopted a second resolution, No. 2026-04, which sets out the civil rights policies for the same GLO CDBG-MIT MOD contract, as required by law.

Edna City Manager Gary Broz said during the City Staff Reports at the end of the meeting that city staff is working on the startup paperwork and that engineering survey work should begin in the next few days.

In addition, Broz noted that a GLO Reallocation Grant is in the bid stage, and that water line work on Miracle Drive is wrapping up. Officials are hoping that work can shift to Brackenridge Street soon.

In other business, the council:

• Approved the minutes of the Jan. 22, 2026 council meeting;
• Ordered the General Election for Sat., May 2, 2026;
• Approved a budget amendment for $51,151, representing eight months of salary adjustments to give city employees a 3 percent raise, which take effect later this month; and
• Paid current city bills.
