Recent rains have everything green and growing again, which also it’s time to dust off the lawn mower and keep the grass trimmed.

Due to the recent rains, several lots and yards need to be mowed already.

City ordinances call for grass to be kept shorter than 12 inches tall, but also for the grass clippings, leaves, and other vegetation to be kept out of the streets, gutters, and storm drains, so as not to impede water flow and clog the sewer system.

Per City of Edna Ordinance 2006-15, Section 6.02.008, Paragraph 3, it is unlawful for any person to discard leaves, grass, weeds, or other vegetable matter by blowing or sweeping or otherwise depositing said items into a street or gutter of the city. Doing so could lead to a citation and fine.

If you know your property may receive a code violation letter and you will or already have hired someone to take care of mowing it in a timely manner, please call City Hall at (361) 782-3122 ext. 305 to let us know.
